PEDAGOGICAL CONTENTS

1. General observations and Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed

I have observed 7th-grade English classes and learned much about teaching methods and differences from Japan.
Broadly speaking, all teachers in USHS teach systematically. For example, they did routine activities first, and then taught content, and used games as an application. Some of them even decided in advance how much time would be allocated. Moreover, my cooperating teacher used games for half an hour.

2. Their learning materials and innovation

Teachers at USHS used a variety of learning materials, including digital tools and multimedia resources such as videos, animations, and podcasts.
They used PowerPoint as a digital tool and videos and podcasts to engage students more. In addition, my cooperating teacher used literature and poetry to stimulate discussion.
In this way, they incorporated a wide variety of teaching materials into their lessons.

3. Authentic assessment used by the teachers

Basically, my cooperating teacher used worksheet-based assessment.
The worksheets were used to check the students' understanding of what they had learned that day and were not very challenging.
In Japan, attitude toward class and speaking up are also evaluated, but in the Philippines, most students speak up, so they were not considered very important.
